The producers of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" are looking for six children to perform during the Atlanta run in the Fox Theatre.
The auditions will be in the Belk Court in Gwinnett Place Mall, 2100 Pleasant Hill Road, in Duluth, at 5 p.m. April 2. Auditioning children should be at the mall by 4:30 p.m. and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Auditions will begin on time.
Each child will be asked to sing a cappella, 16 bars from one up-tempo song of choice. Children should also be prepared to learn and execute simple choreography.
"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" can be seen in the Fox Theatre April 21-26.
The musical is based on the novel by Ian Fleming, who wrote the James Bond novels. The music and lyrics are by the Sherman brothers, who wrote "Mary Poppins." Songs include “Truly Scrumptious,” “Toot Sweets,” “Hushabye Mountain” and the Oscar-nominated title song, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”
Six children will be selected for the ensemble, and they will appear as orphans in Act 2 of every performance. Two alternates will also be chosen. Approximate ages should be 8-12-years-old – and have the appearance of children, NOT young adults. Professional experience and headshots are not required.
The local children cast in the production and their parents or guardians will be provided rehearsal and performance information. The children will not receive any compensation, however this is a wonderful opportunity for children from Atlanta to perform onstage with professional actors without having to ever leave town.
