Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue has proclaimed March 21 as Master Gardener Day.
This is the 30th anniversary of the Master Gardener Program in Georgia.
The concept of training community volunteers to assist Cooperative Extension with community outreach education has flourished throughout the United States and Canada. In Georgia, the Master Gardener program has grown to 7,000 Master Gardeners trained across the state who log an average of 175,000 volunteer hours each year a dollar value of $3.5 million.
