The Web site AOL.com today on its WalletPop page features a link to a recent report citing Columbus as one of the top 10 best places for single seniors to retire.
The link is to a February U.S. News & World Report piece in which the magazine used a demographer to find the cities with the most single seniors, and then sifted those sites through a search engine designed generally to determine the best areas in which to retire.
Columbus topped the list, partly because the list was in alphabetical order.
The link shows a nighttime photo of the Chattahoochee Riverwalk and notes the Springer Opera House "still hosts theatrical productions after 136 years." It also notes the city is home to Aflac, Carmike and Tom's Snack Foods, once a local company now owned by Lance Inc.
