A 50-year-old man was hit over the head when another man tried to rob him early Friday.
The victim told Columbus police he was walking near Fifth Avenue and 14th Street about 5:30 a.m. when a man hit him on the head with an unknown object and tried to rob him.
Nothing was taken, but the victim sustained a jagged cut of about 3 to 4 inches on the back of his head, a police report shows.
The man walked to the McDonald's at 1338 Veterans Parkway, where he met with police, said Lt. Lynn Joiner.
The victim was taken by ambulance to The Medical Center, where he was treated.
Police are investigating.
The suspect is described as black, 6 foot 4 inches and weighing 210 pounds. He was wearing a white polo shirt with the word "Polo" written on the front, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
