Author and speaker Vanessa Davis Griggs is the featured speaker at this year's Women's Day program at St. Mary's Road United Methodist Church, 3993 St. Marys Road. The event is 6-8 p.m. April 18. She will sign books and lead a discussion.
Griggs will then speak at the Sunday school hour beginning at 10 a.m. April 19.
She is the recipient of numerous recognitions including: June 2007 recipient of the Arts and Letters Award from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Birmingham Alumnae Chapter; March 2006 recipient of The Greater Birmingham Millennium Section National Council of Negro Women Inspiration Award; and 2004-2005 Jasper Outstanding Achievement Award. Her book "Wings of Grace" received a Road to Romance Reviewer's Choice Award.
Griggs pens a column "May I Have a "Word With You?" for The Birmingham (Ala.) Times.
She is the author of: "Destiny Unlimited," "The Rose of Jericho," "Promises Beyond Jordan" published by BET Books/New Spirit (now Kimani Press) and "Wings of Grace" (published under New Spirit and is an audiobook with Recorded Books). "Blessed Trinity," Book 1 of the Blessed Trinity trilogy, Book 2 "Strongholds" and Book 3 "If Memory Serves" are published by Kensington/Dafina. Her next book, "Practicing What You Preach," is due in May.
