Though a tornado warning is in effect in Fort Benning until 10:45 p.m., none have been reported, according to post public affairs.
At 9:32 p.m. Doppler Radar indicated a tornado was moving east at 35 mph between Columbus and Fort Benning. Sirens indicating a tornado warning have gone off in Columbus.
This storm also produced marble-sized hail and heavy winds.
Hail was also reported in Russell County, according to the county's Emergency Management Agency. As of about 9:40 p.m., no tornadoes or injuries were reported in Russell County. Trees are down, however, and there is some property damage in Russell County.
Other counties included in the tornado warning include but are not limited to Highland Park, Edgewood, Fort Benning's Lawson Army Air Field, Benning Park, Saint Marys Hills, Kenwood, Battle Park, Benning Hills, Custer Road Terrace, Flat Rock, Vista Terrace and Sand Hill.
