Jim Rhodes is emphatic that Saturday morning's rally in front of the Eternal Flame outside the Government Center is not a way of counter-protesting the planned visit by anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan.
Rhodes said he knows that Sheehan will be speaking at the gates of Fort Benning at 10 a.m., the same time he's planned his event.
"I just thought it would be a good idea for some of us veterans to show out support for the troops," said Rhodes, who often spearheads such programs on holidays as Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Independence Day.
"I know this is spur of the moment," he continued, "but I hope we can get a huge turnout . . . at least as many as go to Miss Cindy's."
