The Top 5 "American Idol" finalists delivered a strong set of performances for Tuesday's Rat Pack theme night, when they were mentored by Jamie Foxx.
It was a night dominated by traditionalism, as few singers strayed from the standards' original melodies. Most opted for ballads, with the exception of Adam Lambert's theatrical take on "Feeling Good," which the judges praised.
The panel was also enthusiastic about Danny Gokey's performance of "Come Rain or Come Shine." Meanwhile, judge Simon Cowell thought there wasn't enough energy in performances from Kris Allen ("The Way You Look Tonight") and Allison Iraheta ("Someone to Watch Over Me").
At the bottom of the pack? Matt Giraud, who sang a mediocre version of "My Funny Valentine." Cowell and Paula Abdul liked him, but a lagging fan base could finally make his "Idol" run end.
Never miss a local story.
