Plenty of thoughts raced through Glenwood reliever Joseph Fincher's head after Macon-East loaded the bases in the final inning of the state semifinals Wednesday trailing by only two with nobody out.
But one stood out first and foremost.
"It'd be a whole lot easier if I had an out," he said.
As it turns out, he got three outs without allowing a run, finishing off the Gators' 7-5 nichtcap victory in a doubleheader sweep that propelled Glenwood into the Class AAA state championship round after a one-year absence. The Gators won Game 1, 9-2.
