The Russell/Muscogee County Chapter of the University of Alabama Alumni Association was named the national Chapter of the Year recently.
The honor was presented at the spring meeting April 18 in Tuscaloosa.
"This is an incredible honor of which I proudly accept on behalf of our board members and all the area Alabama alumni/ friends of the University," local president Blair Brown said. "When you think about all the Alabama Alumni chapters throughout the country -- 125 of them) -- it's unbelievable that we were even considered, let alone won this prestigious award. This accomplishment is a tribute to our past and present leadership, as well as, the terrific support that we continue to get from all the local Crimson Tide followers."
The chapter awarded the Tom & Jeri Starlin Scholarship Endowment to Kenedie Barnes of Russell County High School and Hayley Walker of Harris County High School.
