Craig George Dowling was chosen this evening by unanimous vote as the next Harris County Schools superintendant.
Dowling, 56, of Conyers, was one of three candidates the seven-member board was considering.
“Thank you again for the appointment,” Dowling said. “I’m looking forward to a long relationship with the Harris County Schools.”
Kenneth Edward Musgrove, 57, of Winchester, Ky., and Dwight John Pullen, 49, of Summerville, were also considered for the post.

The board is still in session. There hasn’t yet been any discussion on Dowling’s salary or contract.
Dowling has been assistant superintendent for support services, Rockdale County Schools for four years. His salary is $131,000. He has been principal of two schools during his 12 years in Rockdale as well as three years as assistant superintendent for instruction.
