Columbus High swept St. Pius X 10-0 and 11-0 on Tuesday at Randy Jordan Field in the Class AAA state quarterfinals.
Bryce Dial hit a three-run homer in the fourth. Taylor Wolfe pitched five innings. The game was stopped after six due to the mercy rule.
Columbus beat St. Pius X 10-0 in Game 1, a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule. Columbus scored five times with two outs in the fourth inning to open up a 9-0 lead. The big blow in the inning was a 2-run homer by catcher Travis Benn.
For the semifinals, Columbus will either host Carrollton or travel to Peach County.

Meanwhile, at Rome, Brookstone and Darlington split their Class A series. Brookstone won Game 1 7-1 but lost Game 2.
In Game 1, Brookstone scored four times in the first inning and went on to beat host Darlington 7-1 in Game 1 of their Class A series. Neal Amos and Jake Howard drove in runs in the inning. Milton McCluskey went the distance for Brookstone. He has allowed one run on six hits. He also hit a home run. Taylor Herndon went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple.
Game 3 will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
At Pacelli, in a rematch of last year’s Class A state championship series, Landmark Christian swept Pacelli 15-3 and 4-3.
At Cartersville, the Hurricanes' Hank Stewart went 2-for-4 with three RBIs as Cartersville defeated Northside 3-0 in Game 1 of their Class AAA quarterfinals series. Cartersville finished the sweep, 15-5 in Game 2.
Northside's Tim Massengale led the Patriots' at the plate in the opener, going 2-for-3, but no other Northside batter managed more than one hit and the team finished with four. The Patriots stranded three batters and twice were tagged out at home.
The Hurricanes took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a Stewart single to left field, and Stewart made it 3-0 with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fourth.
Northside starter Hunter Mitchell pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and walking five while striking out seven.
