The Columbus Public Library will hold a kickoff party for the Aflac Vacation Reading Program from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 on the library's front lawn on Macon Road.
There will be games, inflatables from Monkey Joe's and painting for kids. Reading logs for the program can also be picked up at the kick-off or at any local library branch until July 18.
As kids read or listen to stories over the summer, they should record the titles of the books and the amount of time spent reading in the log. Once a child has completed 10 hours or read 10 books, the log should be returned to the library. The child will be able to select a prize from a treasure chest and enter the drawing for a grand prize.
The more kids read, the more chances they have of winning. Logs must be turned in by July 18.
Never miss a local story.
Everyone who completes the program will receive a certificate and an invitation to the summer party at their local branch.
