Area law enforcement officers are spending the day pulling over speeding motorists today as part of a special traffic detail.
Thirty officers from the Columbus Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and Muscogee County Sheriff's Office are out along Columbus' major roads and highways, including J.R. Allen Parkway, Manchester Expressway and Interstate 185.
Around 1 p.m., around 8 to 10 police vehicles were posted along the southbound lanes of I-185 near Columbus' Welcome Center. At least four vehicles were pulled over at the same time.
Officers are watching out for those violating traffic laws such as speeding, improper lane change, following too close and the "Move Over" law.
Police Lt. Mark Starling said this is a "part two" of Operation Visible, which they conducted last month.
Officers will be out until about 6 p.m. today, he said.
