Today the folks at West Georgia Honor Flight will hold a press conference at the noon meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Columbus announcing its commitment to fly 100 local veterans to Washington, DC. this September.
The meeting will be held in the Columbus Trade Center.
West Georgia Honor Flight exists to help honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices, according to the website. The one-day trip is free and top priority is given to World War II veterans and veterans of more recent conflicts who may be terminally ill.
The date for the first flight has been tentatively set for Tuesday, September 22, 2009 and will carry approximately 100 veterans plus their guardians to DC.
