Before she was required to eliminate two men from dating reality show "The Bachelorette," Jillian Harris said "the more I speak to each and every one of you, the more I realize how I'm the luckiest girl in the world right now."
At the rose ceremony, Tanner F., a 28-year-old from Denver, and Brad, a 27-year-old from Chicago, were eliminated.
"Somebody can come out and write a song about somebody (but) that's not going to make a relationship," Tanner F. said. Viewers can presume he was talking about Wes, the Texas musician.
"When you love somebody more than they love you and you don't get it back, oh God, it hurts," Brad said.
Jillian gave roses to Ed, a 29-year-old technology consultant from Chicago, and Robby, a 25-year-old bartender, early in the show. She sent smooth-talking Texan Sasha home after a one-on-one date.
At the rose ceremony, Jillian chose to keep the following 11 guys:
Jake, a 31-year-old pilot from Dallas
Reid, a 30-year-old real estate agent from Philadelphia
Mark, a 26-year-old pizza shop owner
Jesse, a 27-year-old wine maker from California
Tanner P., a 30-year-old Dallas financial analyst with a foot fetish
Wes, a 32-year-old musician from Texas
Juan, a 35-year-old California contractor who's originally from Argentina
Michael, a 25-year-old New York break-dancing instructor
Kiptyn, a 31-year-old California business developer
Mike, a 28-year-old New York baseball camp owner
David, a 27-year-old trucking contractor from Ohio who received last week's first-impression rose
Here's a recap of Monday's show:
In various scenes throughout the show David seemed angry about not getting to spend time with Jillian. He wasn't chosen for any of the dates. He was particularly upset with Juan who David didn't think was on the show for the right reasons. In his one-on-one conversation with Jillian, David said "I'm used to being the top dog" to explain his jealousy concerning the other guys. Juan interrupted a few minutes into the conversation.
Once he was back at the cocktail party, David's anger seemed to fester when fueled by alcohol. At one point, when David was talking about Juan, he stepped out of the house and near the group David was talking with. David told Juan to go back inside the house. He did. "I'm not here for this. I'm here for Jillian," Juan said. Then Juan came back outside and confronted David. David told Juan he was fake. "Stop being a cheese-ass and just be yourself." Robby said he agreed with everything David said. In an interview David said "I'll kill him, I would love to just beat the (bleeped word) out of him."
Sasha accompanied Jillian on a one-on-one date to an automotive museum. After a photo shoot, Jillian and Sasha went for a fast ride in a Ferrari. Over drinks and dinner, Sasha told Jillian that he'd been a serious vehicle accident when he was 18. He said surviving the crash helped him gain a new appreciation for life. His heart-felt speech wasn't enough to overcome Jillian's fear that she wouldn't be able to meet Sasha's expectations for love. "This is a great way to be humbled," Sasha said remarking that he arrived in a limo, drove a Ferrari and was being sent home on a bus.
Monday's group date was crowded with most of the guys including Tanner F, Tanner P., Kiptyn, Reid, Juan, Mark, Michael, Mike, Brad, Robby and Wes. Jillian and her dates went to a Hollywood studio to test their acting skills while filming a Western that seemed to focus on Jillian kissing nearly every guy. The best kiss went to Robby, who Jillian said seemed like a genuine guy who "made her feel really comfortable" during the scene. The worst, according to the other guys, belonged to Brad. "It was the worst kiss I've seen since 1988," Tanner P. said. Robby got a rose at the end of the date.
Jillian's first one-on-one date was with Ed. After riding in helicopter, repelling down a building and swimming in a pool, Ed and Jillian shared a romantic roof-top dinner. Jillian asked Ed a lot of questions. His only question for the bachelorette? "Am I getting a rose tonight?" Yes. Jillian pinned a rose to Ed's jacket and told him they both needed more time to get to know each other better.
The following men were eliminated last week:
Mathue, a 26-year-old personal trainer from Kansas
Simon, a 26-year-old Baltimore soccer coach, is originally from Yorkshire, England.
Brian, a 32-year-old IT consultant from Atlanta, who jumped in the pool naked at the cocktail party before the rose ceremony. "I guess she didn't like what she saw," he joked.
Julien, a 34-year-old restaurant owner from San Diego
Sent home the first week were:
Bryan, a 28-year-old Dallas high school teacher and coach who didn't just say he wanted to sweep Jillian off her feet, he picked her up
