Columbus’ Hughston Hospital and Phenix City’s Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital were recognized by national healthcare ratings organization HealthGrades for their patient experience.
The two local hospitals, along with 338 other facilities across the country, received HealthGrades’ 2009/2010 Outstanding Patient Experience Award. Those medical facilities ranked in the top 10 percent of all hospitals in patient experience.
Ratings were based on patient satisfaction surveys, which asked patients questions regarding physician communication, hospital staff responsiveness and facility cleanliness, among other things. More than 3,700 hospitals provided those results to HealthGrades as part of a federal program to give consumers more information about hospital performance.
Other area hospitals that received this accolade include East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala., and Lanier Health Services in Valley, Ala.
