Soldiers with Fort Benning's 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team will hold a blood drive Friday on Kelley Hill.
The event will take place at the Kelley Hill Rec Center from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. and will include an appearance by the players and cheerleaders from the Columbus Lions arena football team. Sledgehammer Soldiers will also be participating in a pass/punt/kick contest.
What's unique about this blood drive, said 3rd HBCT spokeswoman Sgt. Natalie Rostek, is that all of the blood will be sent overseas to Iraq and Afghanistan within 72 hours of the drive.
