Tuesday, June 16, Lt. Col. Michael A. Junot will assume command of the 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment from Lt. Col. Thomas H. Carlisle.
The ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. at the Collins Training Center.
Junot enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard in 1988. He went on to attend Southwest Texas State University, where he was commissioned as an infantry second lieutenant upon his graduation in 1991. He was the Distinguished Military Graduate.
His most recent assignment was as the chief of the Dismounted Test Division at the United States Army Operational Test Command, Fort Hood, Texas.

Carlisle is retiring from the Army after 20 years of service. He and his family will remain in Columbus.
The soldiers and civilians assigned to the 29th Infantry Regiment provide subject matter expertise for the development and evaluation of training programs and training manuals. The unit also provides troops, vehicles and instructors to support the training of active and reserve soldiers across the installation.
