In conjunction with "Jon & Kate Plus 8," Jon and Kate Gosselin appeared on TLC's "American Chopper" on Monday. Jon, the father of twin 8-year-old girls and 5-year-old sextuplets, traveled to New York to help build his own motorcycle.
Paul Sr. harped at Jon to keep cleaning up his work area. "He's so anal about everything it's ridiculous," Jon said. Does that remind you of anyone?
Jon said he enjoyed hanging out with the all-male crew. "I've been doing guy things but kid things, you know baby things. I also live in a house of six women so we're pretty much outnumbered," Jon said.
When the bike was finished, the Choppers brought it to Jon in Pennsylvania. They also had a surprise for Kate, a pink scooter decorated with paint splotches. Unfortunately, helmets were forgotten. Kate decided to donate the scooter to an auction to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. That's where Jon and Kate stayed before the sextuplets were born.
On "American Chopper" Jon and the Orange County Choppers went to a virtual shooting range at the Orange County Policy Academy.
"I think I'm gonna trade shows... I'll send Mikey to replace me. Apparently I don't do anything and neither does he," Jon said. Kate might not agree. On "Jon & Kate Plus 8," Mikey accompanied her to a nail salon later in the show and he agreed to have his hair washed upon Kate's request.
"I like hanging out with the guys 'cause I don't have female friends as we all know," Jon said while laughing. Tabloids have reported that Jon is romantically involved with a 23-year-old teacher and that he and Kate have an arrangement in which they are allowed to date.
Here's a recap of season five so far:
Last week Food network chef Emeril Lagasse showed up for the show's 100th episode and cooked a meal with the family. Jon enjoyed seeing Emeril in Kate's territory. "He took control and he was kind of funny. He like pushed her out of the way and did his thing," Jon said. When Kate tried to correct Jon, Emeril said, "Leave him alone." Emeril received a slap from Kate's rubber spatula for that comment.
Two new episodes aired two weeks ago. Kate celebrated her birthday without Jon who was skiing in Utah. Jon said he wanted to go to Utah to ski with his friends. "It just happened to fall on Kate's birthday," he said.
"Jon is away which is kind of sad," Kate said. She and the kids traveled to Baltimore's Charm City Cakes. Duff, the star of the baking reality show "Ace of Cakes" on Food Network, helped each kid make a special cake for mom.
In the second episode, Kate traveled to San Diego with 8-year-old Mady. Jon stayed home with the other seven children.
"Sometimes you'll see Kate and I interview separately. Sometimes you'll see us together on the chair." Jon said.
Several weeks ago, season five of the show debuted amid rumors that the Gosselin marriage was in trouble. Tabloids had reported that both Kate and Jon had affairs. Both denied the rumors. In previous seasons, the couple appeared together for interviews. In that one-hour show, they mostly appeared separately. Individually Kate and Jon each talked about how they were struggling with the recent attention from the tabloids and paparazzi. Kate said she was feeling a lot of anger and that she fears that she and Jon don't want the same things anymore.
