Fort Benning continues its celebration of the Army's 234th birthday with a party today at the Santa Fe Child Development Center on post.
Nearly 200 children are geared up for the 3 p.m. celebration, which will include three birthday cakes, crafts and activities and a special reading of the book, "Sam, the Army Dog."
The Army's birthday was officially June 14.
The children, their parents and the facility’s childcare providers will be dressed up in Army-themed clothing and costumes.
Never miss a local story.
All of the children cared for at the center have at least one parent who is on active duty or employed by the Department of the Army. They range in age from six weeks to four years old, according to post public affairs.
Santa Fe Child Development Center is one of five childcare facilities on post.
