Temperatures in the Columbus area dipped to a new low early Sunday and were prepped Mondaymorning to match a record made in 1946, the National Weather Service said.
The low Sunday reached 62 degrees, beating the previous low of 66 on July 19, 1987, said Meteorologist Jessica Fieux.
The low Monday morning is expected to reach 64, which would tie with a low from 1946, Fieux said.
The average low for this time of year is around 72 degrees.
The reason for the cooler weather at night is a cold front that moved across the area a few days ago that has now stalled over north Florida, Fieux said.
Temperatures are expected to reach their usual highs by week’s end, Fieux said.
