Kayla Radomski and Brandon Bryant led the pack when the Top 6 performed on "So You Think You Can Dance" Wednesday night.
The pair got overwhelmingly favorable reviews for the two routines they performed together: contemporary and disco.
Each contestant did four dances Wednesday: a group routine (one for the three boys, one for the three girls), a solo and two partner routines. The guest judge was Lil C.
Thursday, two dancers will be eliminated. The remaining four dancers will perform in next week's finale.
Never miss a local story.
Here's a full recap of Wednesday's show:
Boys' group routine - contemporary choreographed by Sonya Tayeh, inspired by Willy Wonka
Lil C: Loved it, especially Brandon and Ade. “Evan, allow me to commend you for not getting swallowed by the dominant excellence of Ade and Brandon.” Mary: “I just loved it.” Nigel: “I think Evan stood out tonight because I’ve never seen him attempt stuff like this.”
Jeanine and Ade - samba
Mary: The first 15 seconds were good, but then it started to fall apart. Lil C: “It really fell short for me.” Nigel: “Jeanine, I thought you looked beautiful. You did everything with confidence.”
Evan and Melissa - Broadway, wedding-themed routine to "Get Me to the Church on Time"
Lil C: A little underwhelmed. Mary: “This was really fun and entertaining for me…It could have been a little more way out there.” Nigel: Melissa did “really good work.” Evan brought sufficient effort to a demanding routine.
Kayla and Brandon - contemporary, centered on a mistress trying to leave her man
Lil C: “That was beyond amazing.” Mary: “It was absolutely exquisite the whole way through.” Nigel: “That was a beautifully choreographed and constructed routine.”
Jeanine and Ade - hip-hop, choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon, focused on friends being evicted, boxes as props
Lil C: “It was buck.” Mary: As an afterthought, says Jeanine was awesome during her samba. “I have a feeling that you two will not be getting your eviction notice after that performance.” Nigel: “You got down and it was absolutely fantastic from the pair of you.”
Evan and Melissa - quickstep
Lil C: “Evan I’m going to commend you for dancing bigger than you’ve ever danced on this show before.” Melissa did a fabulous job. Mary: “I’m sitting here just a little disappointed right now.” Nigel: “Was it one of the best routines tonight? No it wasn’t.”
Kayla and Brandon - disco
Lil C: “When you see with your ears there is no darkness, and I saw no darkness in this routine…That was awesome.” Mary: “You gave it a home run tonight.” Nigel: “Absolutely incredible.”
Girls' group routine - contemporary choreographed by Sonya Tayeh, superhero theme
Lil C: “I feel like all of you didn’t really go for the gusto right there.” Mary: Kayla stood out because she got tougher moves. Nigel: “Your strength is equal for me.”
