Columbus police are investigating several armed robberies and home invasions that happened across the city early Thursday.
The first happened on Montclair Court at 1:50 a.m., police said. Two men kicked in the front door of a 37-year-old woman’s home, stepped inside and demanded the homeowner’s car keys, said Lt. Lynn Joiner.
“They took the homeowner’s car keys and some other property,” Joiner added. “They took the car. At this time, it has not been recovered.”The thieves got away with a black, four-door Kia Optima with a Georgia tag of 567KGP.
The suspects in that robbery are described as men in their 20s. One was 5-fooot-11 and wore a white bandana. The other was 5-foot-7 and wore basketball shorts, a do-rag and a white T-shirt, reports state.
The next robbery was at the Waffle House on Flat Rock Road, police said.
Two men entered the restaurant at 6390 Flat Rock Road around 3:30 a.m., reports state. Wielding a handgun, they robbed a 23-year-old Atlanta man who was a customer and took an unknown amount of cash from the business.
They then left on foot walking toward Flat Rock Road, Joiner said.
“Nobody hurt,” he added. “No shots fired. At this time, we don’t know if they’re connected or not.”
The two suspects are in their 20s. One was 5-foot-11 and wore black clothes and a black bandana. The other was 5-foot-7 and also wore black clothes and a black bandana, police said.
The final robbery of the night happened at a Milledge Court home around 5 a.m., Joiner said. Two men entered through the front door, and threatened the 41-year-old woman inside the home with a handgun, reports state.
“At least one of them was armed with a handgun,” Joiner said. “They left in a small, dark-colored car.”
