Carmike Cinemas and the Columbus Film Society will show "The Lemon Tree" beginning today and running through Aug. 6 in The Screening Room inside Peachtree Cinemas 8.
The movie is by Eran Riklis and is a drama of one woman's struggle to preserve her way of life in the middle of political turmoil.
It stars Hiam Abbass is Salma, a Palestinian widow who earns her living by selling lemons from her late father's lemon grove. Then an Israeli government minister moves next door and declares the grove a potential security threat. Salma struggles to defend her peaceful livelihood. She forms an unexpected bond with the minister's lonely wife, and takes her protest -- with the help of her young lawyer -- all the way to the Israeli Supreme Court.
