A Midland man accused of threatening the life of a Social Security employee will remain in federal custody pending the completion of a psychological evaluation.
Michael Eugene Hale, 38, appeared before U.S. Magistrate G. Mallon Faircloth today for a probable cause hearing. Accused of calling a Pennsylvania office last week about the denial of his disability claim, he was arrested and charged on Friday with conspiracy to assault federal employees.
Today, defense attorney Richard Hagler waived his client’s probable cause hearing, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Mel Hyde agreed to postpone a decision on whether Hale should get bond until after an evaluation, which is expected within weeks.
