A 25-year-old Columbus man struck by a Columbus police patrol car this morning said, this afternoon, that a broken left leg, a torn right calf muscle and a bruised rib are among his injuries. He also needed to get staples in his head.
The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. today. The man was walking along 6th Avenue just south of 15th Street with his girlfriend when the car hit him.
"There is no sidewalk where I was walking," he said. "The car came flying around the corner and struck me."
The man was then taken to The Medical Center.
The officer, Andrew Stinson, was on duty at the time of the accident, said Police Maj. Julius Graham.
"There was no sign of impairment," Graham said of the officer.
Graham said no charges have been filed against the officer and that the case is still under investigation.
