The Second National Black Softball Circuit's World Series of Softball will be in Columbus during the Labor Day weekend. The Columbus Sports Council and Columbus Parks and Recreation will host the event.
It begins Sept. 4 with 180 teams in four division, along with friends, families and fans, will come to Columbus' South Commons Softball Complex, 400 Fourth St.
The festivities will begin on Friday with a Homerun Derby at the softball complex. Games will begin at 2:00 p.m. at South Commons, Benning Park, and South Side Park. The highlight of Friday night will be the BSC World Series Block Party, featuring food and entertainment on the grounds of Historic Golden Park.
Games will continue on Sept. 5 and the tournament will wrap up on Sept. 6 when the winner in the four divisions -- Men’s Recreational, Women’s Recreational, Men’s Competitive and Women’s Competitive -- are crowned National Champions.
Admission to the games is free.
Tickets for the block party are $5 before 11 p.m. After 11 p.m., tickets are $10. Parking for Friday-Sunday is $8 daily. Proceeds from parking go to the Black Softball Circuit Scholarship Fund.
