After three months of renovation, the ground floor tower of the Columbus Government Center reopens Monday.
The entrance, which has been temporarily closed since May 26, is used for Government Center employees and visitors to court rooms and other offices. Work was expected to take six months to complete but some construction was delayed until phase two.
Completed improvements include a new customer service area and a more spacious entrance. Both restrooms have been redone, more lighting installed and painting completed.
When the ground floor opens about 7:30 a.m. Monday, employees and visitors won't be allowed to enter from the Ninth Street side of the plaza level, the temporary entrance during the renovation. It will be closed, said Liz Turner. assistant to the city manger.
