Phenix City police are looking for a man accused of shooting a nine-year-old boy Thursday night.
At approximately 8:15 p.m. on August 27, police responded to a call of shots fired in the 1100 building area of Riverview Apartments on 16th Street. They found a nine-year-old child struck in the thigh by one of the bullets.
According to a press release, witnesses at the scene reported that multiple shots were fired from a car in the direction of a group of individuals standing around the 1100 building. The child was playing outside when the shots were fired.
The child was taken to The Medical Center for treatment. Phenix City police Capt. Frank Ivey said the boy's condition was not critical and he was scheduled undergo surgery Thursday morning.

The suspect is described as a man driving a newer model GMC Yukon, possibly charcoal-gray in color. The vehicle had a red paper tag on its rear bumper.
