A 15-year-old boy has been charged in the Sunday night slaying of Brenda Cook, Columbus police said.
Cook, 59, was found stabbed in the backyard of her 1921 Avalon Road home around 11:15 p.m., said Lt. Charles Kennedy.
“It looks like one of the grandsons got in an altercation with her and basically lost it and continued to assault her until he killed her,” Kennedy said. “He told us some stuff that only the person who assaulted her would know about.”
The boy, who was home schooled by Cook, faces charges of murder and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime, Kennedy said. He is being charged as an adult, though his name hasn’t yet been released by police.
The suspect is scheduled for Columbus Recorder’s Court for 2 p.m. Tuesday.
