If you've been looking for a chance to become more fit, sign up for Walk Georgia, an eight-week program sponsored by the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension.
The program begins Sunday and ends Oct. 31, 2009. Registration is open through Sept. 8.
Walk Georgia is aimed at getting people more fit, developing the habit of regular physical activity, getting support from others and having fun. Teams of four people or an individual may gather for activities each week and record minutes of activity. A person or group logging the most miles in eight weeks can win a prize.
To register, go to www.walkgeorgia.org or call the Cooperative Extension in Columbus at 706-653-4200.
