The United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley kicked off its 2009 campaign Thursday, unveiling a goal of $6.45 million. A banner bearing the number was "delivered" by a United Parcel Service carrier toward the end of the luncheon, held in the ballroom of the Columbus Convention & Trade Center.
This year's campaign chair is Billy Blanchard of CB&T. His father, Jim Blanchard, has chaired a campaign, as did Billy Blanchard's grandfather, James W. Blanchard.
About $1 million has already been pledged toward the '09 goal, Billy Blanchard said.
