The St. Anne Pacelli Catholic School Home and School Association has been named the national 2009 Outstanding Parent Group for a Private or Parochial School by the Parent Teacher Organization.
The group was selected from over 500 applications from parent groups across the country. The applications were judged by PTO Today writers and editors and narrowed first to 30 finalists and then to winners in eight categories.
The judges selected St. Anne Pacelli because the group is challenged with providing events and support for students ages pre-K through 12th grade. To meet the needs of such a diverse group, the Home & School Association hosted over 25 events during the school year, raised more than $50,000 and involved 100 percent parents, students and teachers as well as grandparents and area Catholic church members, according to a media release from St. Anne Pacelli.
PTO Today editors also liked that the Home & School Association works hard to make new families feel welcome and involved at the school.
Never miss a local story.
The St. Anne Pacelli Catholic School Home & School Association will be featured in an article in PTO Today magazine’s September issue and on the PTO Today website. The association also receives a $1,000 cash award and a DirecTV system to be used as a fundraiser.
The application for the award was submitted by Julie Davis, the 2008-2009 Home & School Association President and parent of two St. Anne Pacelli students. Julie said she nominated the group because “I knew we had something special at our school with everyone working together for the benefit of the students," she said in the statement. I saw an opportunity to have our parents and teachers recognized for all of their hard work.”
“Research shows that students benefit from involved parents," St. Anne Pacelli School Danni Harris said. "This award is a great way to celebrate our long history of strong family support at St. Anne Pacelli Catholic School.”
