Two Fort Benning soldiers were arrested Thursday for allegedly burglarizing the National Guard Armory on Shug Jordan Parkway in Auburn, Ala.
The Auburn Police Division arrested Christopher M. DeSanto, 24, and Eric J. Machinski, 29, both of Ft. Benning, and charged each with burglary and theft of property.
Police Capt. Tom Stofer said DeSanto and Machinski were stopped by officers after someone reported a suspicious vehicle in the area. A third suspect fled the scene on foot and police are working to identify him.
All of the stolen property was recovered. Stofer would not say what was taken. Both men were processed at the Auburn Police Division and later transported to the Lee County Detention Center to await bond.
