Concerns about marketing for a drug company and possible lawsuits were enough for Columbus Council to delay action on a plan with CVS Caremark to offer discounts for uninsured residents.
The program would be offered through the National League of Cities, of which the city is a member. Councilor Evelyn Turner Pugh, who learned about the discount program while attending an NLC conference, called for the 10-member council to delay action until Oct. 13. It will give the city more time to get more information.
David Lovett, owner of North Columbus Pharmacy, told the council he's opposed to the plan. The free market should be allowed to take care of itself.
