"The Way We Get By," an award-winning documentary depicting a group of senior citizens who gather daily at a small airport to thank American soldiers departing and returning from war, hits local theaters today.
The film will screen for one week -- September 18th through September 24th -- at Carmike 15. Showtimes will be daily at 1:00 p.m, 3:10 p.m, 5:20 p.m, 7:30 p.m and 9:45 p.m.
"'The Way We Get By' is a deeply moving film about life and how to live it," said a press release about the film. "Seeking out the telling detail rather than offering sweeping generalizations, the film carefully builds stories of heartbreak and redemption, reminding us how our culture casts our elders, and too often our soldiers, aside. More importantly, regardless of your politics, 'The Way We Get By,' celebrates three unsung heroes who share their love with strangers who need and deserve it."
The film was the Special Jury Award winner at the SXSW Film Festival. It also won the Audience Award at Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and Best Documentary at the Atlanta, Phoenix, Little Rock and Newport International Film Festivals.
