The city of Columbus made a decision to keep the Dillingham Street Bridge closed for another day, city officials said Friday afternoon.
The bridge, which connects downtown Columbus and Phenix City, was closed to vehicle traffic late Wednesday afternoon.
There are no structural issues, but the bridge was closed because people were stopping cars on the bridge to look at the flood waters on the Chattahoochee River.
“We thought the best thing to do was to keep it closed,” said Columbus City Manager Isaiah Hugley. “We will keep evaluating it each day.”
