The Dillingham Street Bridge was opened today around 10 a.m.
Donna Newman, engineer for the city of Columbus, said workers have begun shutting gates down at West Point Lake and Lake Oliver today.
She said she does not expect the bridge to be closed again.
As soon as the waters recede and they have access, workers will begin cleaning up the Riverwalk. Newman said she expects it to open within the week.
Never miss a local story.
In the meanwhile, the public should still be careful around the river, she said.
"We ask that they use caution and stay away from the river banks," Newman said. "We wouldn't want anyone to fall in."
