The suspects in the murder case of Richard Boynton Jr. will have to wait until Tuesday to appear in front of a judge.
Christopher Young, 24, and Patrick Satterfield, 20, were scheduled to appear in Columbus Recorders Court 8 a.m. Saturday. The case was continued and rescheduled for 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Young and Satterfield each face charges of murder, armed robbery, burglary and possessing a firearm while committing a crime in Boynton’s death.
Boynton, 78, was found dead in his Burnside Drive home nearly 10 months ago. Police were called at about midnight Dec. 5 to check on an open door at the elderly man’s east Columbus home, which witnesses said appeared to have been burglarized. Inside, officers found Boynton fatally shot in the chest.
One of the murder suspects, Satterfield, had appeared in court Friday for a separate armed robbery case, in which Boynton’s two grandsons, Raimone Boynton, 24, and Richard Boynton, 20, are also suspects. The three, along with two others, are accused of invading a home Sept. 18, 2008, and taking more than $3,200 in cash from eight men playing poker inside.
