Columbus Council unanimously defeated a request to place a wireless telecommunications tower at 8200 Stevens Lane.
Councilor Glenn Davis led efforts to reject the tower for AT&T in Council District 2. Before the 10-0 vote from all councilors, Davis said he remained opposed to the 145-foot tower that wouldn’t be located within 300 feet of residents but would be 500 feet from Columbus Cardiology Associates at 2525 Williams Road.
Davis and doctors at the medical office were concerned about the tower's impact on patients and office staff.
City Attorney Clifton Fay said council’s decision could be appealed or the applicant could look for another site.
