Two men linked by authorities to the Dec. 5 death of Richard Boynton Jr. pleaded not guilty in Columbus Recorder’s Court on Tuesday, court records show.
Christopher Young, 24, and Patrick Satterfield, 20, each face charges of murder, armed robbery, burglary and possessing a firearm while committing a crime in Boynton’s death, police said. Both were ordered held without bond, and their cases were bound over to Muscogee County Superior Court, records state.
Boynton, 78, was found dead in his Burnside Drive home nearly 10 months ago. Police were called at about midnight Dec. 5 to check on an open door at the elderly man’s east Columbus home, which witnesses said appeared to have been burglarized. Officers found Boynton fatally shot in the chest.
