More than 90 regional leaders will leave for Mobile, Ala., Wednesday for the 16th Annual Inter City Conference.
The three-day trip is designed to help the Columbus region grow. Participants will look at the successful (and not so successful) processes Mobile has used to get where it is today.
The Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce organized the first trip inter city conference trip in 1994 to Charlotte, NC. Several trips have generated ideas for Columbus and have come to fruition. For example, from a trip to Greenville, SC, came the development of the RiverCenter for Performing Arts, uptown development and marketing the city for tourism. A trip to Austin, Tex., inspired the idea for a high-tech incubator and helped establish the Columbus Regional Technology Incubator.
Regional leaders are expected to return Friday afternoon.
