Brandon James Floyd, initially charged with murder in connection with the April 4 death of William Brandon Cobbs, was indicted Tuesday on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, court records state.
Floyd, 23, also faces indictments on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Floyd is accused of shooting acquaintance Cobbs, 21, in the parking lot of 5401 Gunboat Drive, near Miller and Milgen roads. Cobbs had just received a haircut and was behind the wheel of a Nissan, with Floyd in the back seat, when the bullet struck Cobbs in the upper back, police said.
Floyd fled the scene and turned himself in a few days later, police said.
