"The Hills" premiered the second half of its fifth season Tuesday night on MTV, replacing longtime narrator Lauren Conrad with "Laguna Beach" alum Kristin Cavallari.
Does Kristin have what it takes to anchor the show? Depends how much you like catfights.
Looks like this season's central plot will be conflict between Kristin and cast member Audrina Patridge. No, they're not fighting over national health care reform. Instead, the catfight is spurred by Audrina's former fling, Justin Bobby.
Minutes into Tuesday's season premiere, Kristin put the moves on Justin at a pool party -- only to be confronted by Audrina and Stephanie Pratt.
Never miss a local story.
Ultimately, on a private date with Justin, Kristin said she understood Audrina wasn't over him. She followed that brief moment of compassion by reminding Justin she has a really comfortable bed.
Meanwhile, the now-married Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag shopped for a home. Heidi was less than thrilled when Spencer told her he'd already put a deposit on a home she criticized.
The show included no mention of Lauren Conrad, who decided to leave "The Hills" last season.
That mystery stood beside equally perplexing questions, like how Stacie the bartender managed to land a spot as a secondary character. Oh, and does anybody else wonder why Frankie Delgado seems to have a birthday party every week?
Weigh in: Is Kristin Cavallari's entrance the beginning of the end for "The Hills"?
