If you live in Columbus and own property, part of your taxes is due Thursday.
Tax officials have said they expect ad valorem taxes to be paid by 37,200 residents. At least 40 percent of the tax bill must be paid Thursday or the property owner could face a penalty. You also may mail your taxes to the tax commissioner's office but make sure the payment is post marked by Oct. 1 to avoid late fees.
The other 60 percent is due by Dec. 1.
If you have questions about your bill, call the tax office at 706-653-4211.
