A local private school will participate in a nation-wide effort to break the world record for the largest shared reading experience on Thursday, Oct. 8.
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, on Torch Hill Road, is taking part in Jumpstart's Read for the Record, a campaign designed to promote literacy and early education in low-income communities.
The organization will try to set a world record for the largest shared reading experience on Thursday, by encouraging one million children to read Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."
At Our Lady of Lourdes, volunteers from TIC Federal Credit Union and the Alpha Company 1/29th Infantry will read aloud to students from Carle's book. The credit union is one of the school's Partners in Education.
