Columbus police responded to the Lakebottom area Wednesday morning in response to shots being fired.
The shots went off around 10:45 a.m., said Lt. Jim Pope. Six units were sent to investigate, and at one point spotted a suspect, though he escaped. “We chased him, but lost him,” Pope said. “We were not able to apprehend him.”
No one was injured in the reported shooting.
A juvenile was taken into custody, though Pope said his arrest on an obstruction charge wasn’t related to the shooting.
“He was not the one who shot and did not take part in that incident,” the lieutenant added.
Just before noon, an officer approached some people sitting in the front yard of their home at 16th Avenue and 23rd Street to ask them about the shooting. By 1 p.m., though, Pope said all police units had been called back into service.
