The final three celebrities performed three dances in the final competition of season nine's "Dancing with the Stars" Monday. Singer Mya and partner Dmitry Chaplin were the best of the night earning 87 points. Donny Osmond and partner Kym Johnson came in second with 85 points and Kelly Osbourne and partner Louis Van Amstel were last with 76 points.
After the judges' scores are combined with viewers' votes, one star will be crowned the winner of season nine on Tuesday's results show.
For their final performances of the season, the celebrities and their professional dance partners were allowed to "freestyle" a dance routine.
Donny Osmond and partner Kym Johnson earned their first perfect score of the season, a 30, for their Broadway freestyle.
Never miss a local story.
Bruno Tonioli, 10: "That was truly an absolute show-stopper."
Len Goodman, 10: "Mr. Showbizness... You are the master."
Carrie Ann Inaba, 10: "Welcome to the hall of fame of the freestyle."
Mya and Dmitry Chaplin earned 27 points for their 1960's focused freestyle. The judges complained that they kept "waiting for something to happen" during the dance. While technically sound, it didn't excite the judges.
Carrie Ann Inaba, 9: "High energy. Fun. But not outstanding to me."
Len Goodman, 9: "It's clear that you have great dance talent... It had a sameness about it."
Bruno Tonioli, 9: "You owned the beat... I was expecting something more spectacular."
Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel received 24 for their freestyle dance to Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive." They had a few mistakes, or "worrying incidents," as Len called them, including one where Kelly fell attempting a lift.
Bruno Tonioli, 8: "You had all the glitz and glamour of the disco era. And I tell you I was there I know it was right. Sometimes people fell on the floor. It was part of the night." In the audience, Kelly's parents, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, stood and applauded Bruno's comments.
Carrie Ann Inaba 8: "You were definitely a survivor... When you fall you get back up. When you forget you laugh at yourself."
Len Goodman, 8: "You smiled through it. You were singing. I thoroughly enjoyed it."
This finale introduced a new feature: The Megamix Challenge. It was a group dance where each couple danced, in unison, to identical choreography. The Megamix contained steps from three different dances: Viennese Waltz, samba and jive.
Len Goodman, "It was really, really difficult... There's no clear winner."
All the judges agreed that Donny, at times, was as good as the male professional dancers. They chose Mya's samba moves and Kelly's lines in the Viennese Waltz as the best components of the Megamix.
Mya won the challenge and was awarded 30 points. Donny Osmond received 28 points for second place and Kelly Osbourne got 26 points for third place.
Donny Osmond and partner Kym Johnson earned 27 points for the cha-cha-cha.
Carrie Ann Inaba, 9: "Where did those hips come from?"
Len Goodman, 9: "Ding. Dong. Donny. That was a cha-cha-cha."
Bruno Tonioli, 9: "This guy is a professional, he's a credit to his profession. I shouted at him for an hour. No attitude."
Mya and partner Dmitry Chaplin earn a perfect 30 for their paso doble to "We Will Rock You" by Queen.
Bruno Tonioli, 10: "The power of Mya unleashed for all to admire."
Carrie Ann Inaba, 10: "I dub you the queen of the paso doble."
Len Goodman, 10: "You've come out like the no-stress express."
Kelly Osbourne and partner Louis Van Amstel earned 26 points for their Argentine Tango.
Len Goodman, 9: "You epitomize what this contest is about."
Bruno Tonioli, 8: "You have been the revelation of this season."
Carrie Ann Inaba, 9: "I'm so proud of you tonight."
