A Columbus man found what appeared to be human bones in his front yard Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called out to a home on Mustang Drive shortly after 1 p.m. in reference to a call about bones found. A man living at the house told police he found the bones in his front yard. Officers said the bones appeared to be the remains of a leg from an unidentified person.
The remains were taken to the Medical Center for inspection and doctors there said they could not rule out the possibility that they were human bones.
The bones were taken to the Muscogee County coroner's office and Coroner Bill Thrower told police he would send them to the crime lab in Atlanta for further identification and review.
